July 20, 2011:  On a bright, sunny day filled with fellowship, sportsmanship, and charity, the Concordia College faculty and staff defeated their Iona College counterparts by a score of 8 to 5 in an inaugural softball game to benefit the Eastchester Community Action Project (CAP) Food Pantry.  The game was held on the Clippers Softball Complex on Concordia's campus.

While the game featured a few highlight-reel catches and screaming line drives, the real standout performance came from those who generously contributed to the Eastchester CAP Food Pantry, helping to exceed its fundraising goal.

"The faculty and staff at Concordia College are grateful for all of those who participated, whether by monetary contribution or canned food donation.  It's great to see two Christian colleges working together to give back to the community," said Sherry Fraser, dean of the college at Concordia.

It's not too late to provide your own offering toward this worthy cause.  With nearly 25% of county residents living below the poverty line and over 3,000 homeless, there is a clear need for assistance in the area.  Last year, over 5 million meals were served in "affluent" Westchester County--50% of those served to children.
