Letter to the Editor: Michael D. Broderick on Proposed Kensington Road Development

To the Editor:

Once again, I have to chuckle at the premise that the "Avalon 2" proposed for Kensington Road will be targeted at empty nesters. Seinfeld couldn't write a better tag line.

A very resourceful family with three kids will make due in any configuration marketed. It is not unreasonable to predict that an additional sixty students will be enrolled in an already crowded system.

And the $600K in taxes is misleading. $30K/year to educate a child in our school tells us that twenty additional students is revenue-neutral. Sixty students and then the whole financial model goes down the drain.

But who gives two hoots about the little not-so-old people on Kensington Road or the impact it will have on our school. Apparently not the proponents listed in Mary's letter.
