Track and Field Teams Open the Season with Record-Breaking Results

Dec. 14, 2022: The track and field teams had an amazing start to the season this past weekend while competing at the Jim Mitchell Invitational on Saturday and the Section 1 Kickoff #4 Meet on Sunday. The Broncos finished in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in six events at the Jim Mitchell Invite and in 12 events at the Sectional Kickoff meet.
Two new school records were set by members of the boys’ team. Davis Patterson, Pierce Patterson, Jaime Valdes, and Max Morgan set a new school record in the 4x200m relay in 1:34.96. Max Dicker set a new school record in the pole vault (13-06) and is currently No. 1 in the New York State.

The Jim Mitchell Invitational is the first meet of the season and included 36 schools from across Section 1. The meet, named after Bronxville’s longtime track and field coach, Jim Mitchell, was started in 2006 when Mitchell was inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame at the Armory.
The boys’ and girls’ teams are coached by Head Coach Brian Halling along with Alex Barraco, Michael Whelan, Dani Tocci and Victor Palumbo. Halling had nothing but praise for the Broncos as they opened their season.
“It was an incredible start to the year with school records, state standards, and national standards,” said Halling. “Many good things ahead!”
