Waldo Is Hiding in 22 Bronxville Businesses; Therefore, Where's Waldo? Print

Jul. 9, 2014:  Waldo, of the popular children's book series Where's Waldo, is back by popular demand throughout the whole month of July.

Gene and Wanda Sgarlata, owners of Womrath Bookshop, have enlisted 22 local business in Bronxville (including the Bronxville Public Library), to participate in "Where's Waldo" by hiding a little cardboard statue of Waldo somewhere in their stores. Young sleuths must inspect each store to find Waldo, sometimes not an easy thing to do.

There will be a big party for all the detectives at Womrath Bookshop, 76 Pondfield Road, on Thursday, July 31, with prizes, games, and snacks.

Register at Womrath Bookshop to get the scoop on where Waldo might be hiding, as well as the passport that local merchants will stamp when sleuths spot him.

Anyone returning a filled passport by July 30 will receive a coupon toward the purchase of a Where's Waldo book. Those passports will be entered into the drawing for Where's Waldo prizes at the party. Winners must be present at the party to claim their prizes, so mark your calendars!

Gene Sgarlata reminds anyone wanting to join in that there's still plenty of time.

The Bronxville businesses participating in the search for Waldo this year include:  Tryforos & Pernice Florists, SilverSpoon, Arista Camera, Savanna at Home, Mrs. Morgan's Flower Shop, Chantilly Patisserie, Breezeway, Kensington Paper, The Silk Road, Bronxville Running Company, Provisions for Pets, Weezie D., Dobbs & Bishop Fine Cheese, Häagen-Dazs, Topps Bakery, J.McLaughlin, Citrine, Scarborough Fair, Shows and More, J. Pocker, Chaos, and the Bronxville Public Library.

"It's a give-back endeavor," Sgarlata said in describing the event, "and an effort to remind residents to shop local."
