Letter to the Editor: Re-Elect Mary and Bob. Vote for Continuance of Good Governance

Mar. 10, 2021: Dear Bronxville Village residents,

We are writing to ask for your vote in the Village Elections on March 16th. Mayor Mary Marvin and Deputy Mayor, Bob Underhill, want to continue serving our great village, and we need your vote of support in this pursuit. For decades, Mayor Marvin and Mr. Underhill have been stalwart stewards for the Village of Bronxville. They are not paid and do not engage in self-promotion. Mayor Marvin and Mr. Underhill selflessly serve our Village to ensure smooth and successful operations.

The Village of Bronxville continues to have an almost nonexistent violent crime rate. Our roads, lighting, and all other Village services are managed seamlessly. Both Major Marvin and Mr. Underhill are constantly looking for ways to both improve and provide Village services more efficiently. Because of Mr. Underhill’s robust skills and experience, an eyesore gas station on Parkway Road and a blighted parking lot on Kensington (the property on which Villa BXV now sits) were put back on the tax rolls and transformed into revenue generators while also addressing and solving the larger perennial parking issue.

Mayor Mary Marvin continues to take bold and productive action throughout the entirety of the current pandemic. She works tirelessly with Police Chief Satriale to keep residents informed and up to date with CDC guidelines. Mayor Marvin knows the importance of educating Village residents to protect both ourselves and others from COVID-19. She works closely with the Chamber of Commerce and local residents to launch BXV for BXV, a multipronged program to provide financial support to BXV businesses. Mayor Marvin supports our local restaurants by expanding sidewalk dining and ensuring safe shopping to enable businesses to meet the needs of our Village residents.

The best evidence of good governance is the absence of problems. If families can continue living with the assurance of routine trash service needs met, roads cared for, and our community remaining safe, what more can we ask for? The Bronxville Village operates on only 14 percent of the property tax dollars collected, and the remaining balance is allotted to our schools. This is a true testament of where education is ranked, always number one.

Finally, as a true leader, Mayor Mary Marvin knows the importance of showing gratitude and appreciation for community volunteers, those behind the scenes at Village Hall, the Bronxville Police Department, and essential workers who serve our village around the clock. We are fortunate for the continued relentless service on behalf of our Village and must remember to always show thanks for their exceptional work as it would not be possible without their efforts.

Mayor Mary Marvin and Deputy Mayor, Bob Underhill, have given over 30 years of heart and soul to the Village of Bronxville. Please take a few minutes to vote for them on March 16th!
