Letter to the Editor: Mark E. Jennings, Jr. on Village Election March 21

To the Editor:

Mar. 15, 2017:  With a young growing family, we moved back to Bronxville from Bermuda because of the way it was managed. We are supporting the current trustees, Bob Underhill and Randy Mayer, and Mayor Mary Marvin.

We've seen first-hand how ill-advised decisions have damaged otherwise pleasant communications. Bob, Randy, and Mary have served the community over the years in many capacities and proven their deep knowledge of Bronxville and their ability to work hard on our behalf.

While all politics is local, we have been heartened by both the lack of partisanship and the willingness of our board members to work hard for villagers in a very open and collegial manner. The village has consistently appointed and/or elected a wide variety of citizens to serve on its many volunteer boards.

Our current trustees are an excellent example of how the village brings together dedicated, longtime residents who have varying points of view, speak openly and independently, and use their skills to benefit us all.

Villages and towns all across New York State are under tremendous economic pressure. And, while we appreciate the willingness of a new resident, Ms. Calderon, to offer her services, the stakes are very high. One wrong decision and property values suffer, as well as our standard of living here in our small village.

We feel far more secure with our longtime resident trustees and mayor who have successfully navigated very complex issues. Our high property values are proof of their wise choices.

We plan on voting for Mayor Mary Marvin and trustees Randy Mayer and Bob Underhill in the March 21 election.
