New Summer Courses at Sarah Lawrence College Feature Arabic and Urban Ecology

Apr. 2, 2014:  From Urban Ecology to intensive Arabic, Sarah Lawrence College has broadened its summer credit course offerings open to the public, including advanced high school students and visiting college students.

Courses feature SLC faculty and are based on our distinct approach to education that places an emphasis on one-on-one student-faculty contact.

Urban Ecology: Environmental Challenges and Solutions takes place at the college's new Center for the Urban River at Beczak on the Hudson River in downtown Yonkers.

Elementary Arabic I and II will introduce students to the social and cultural aspects of Arabic and Islamic society. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to initiate, respond to, and maintain conversation in Arabic.

In addition, Web Programming, Rapid Game Lab, Masterworks of Fiction, and Fiction Writing offer college credit for high school and college students. A non-credit writer's workshop, specifically for high school students, will include exercises in theater.

The college is also offering four precollege non-credit intensive programs that explore musical theater, dance, film, and creative writing. These programs conclude with the completion of portfolio pieces that often help students gain acceptance to the colleges of their choice.
