Letter to Editor: Mary Liz Mulligan on Salute to Seniors Day

To the Editor:

Oct. 7, 2015:  The Salute to Seniors Committee, composed of members of the Senior Citizens Council and Gramatan Village, would like to thank everyone who helped to make our third annual Salute to Seniors Day on September 26 a smashing success!

We are especially grateful to:

  • Our sponsors, Bronxville Rotary Club, Gramatan Village, and NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital;

  • Our speakers, including Mayor Marvin, Mayor Steve Ecklond, Glenn Bellitto, Tracy Conte, Gilda Press, Irena Choi Stern, and Chief Christopher Satriale;

  • Mary Ann Magliato, secretary to Mayor Marvin;

  • All those who distributed a vast array of senior-related information on Pondfield Road on Saturday morning;

  • JC Fogarty's, Park 143 Bistro & Fish, Pete's Park Place Tavern, and Underhills Crossing for offering brunch & lunch specials for seniors;

  • Shop owners at 81 Pondfield Road, especially Barbara Amar of SilverSpoon;

  • All "Speeders" (55+) in our area for sharing their wonderful art for the art show in the Bronxville Library on display through October 17; and

  • Sarah Thornton-Clifford of MyhometownBronxville for going above and beyond in getting the word out.

We would also like to thank the Westchester Board of Legislators for its surprise presentation of a proclamation honoring the director of the Bronxville Senior Citizens for her dedication and work with the Bronxville Seniors. Karla Diserens was presented with the proclamation through Gordon Burrows's office declaring September 26, 2015, Karla Diserens Day in Westchester.

We know this has been said a million times, but it does take a village!

Mary Liz Mulligan, on behalf of the Salute to Seniors Committee
