Anthony Lore, Sr., Wins Eastchester Fire Commissioner Election

Written by Staff

Dec. 10, 2014: Anthony Lore, Sr., of Eastchester won a decisive vote in the Eastchester Fire District Board of Commissioners election yesterday, defeating Bronxville resident Brian Keating.

Lore won a five-year seat on the board with a total of 466 votes. Keating came in with a total of 261 votes.

The total number of votes cast town-wide, 727, was the lowest count in the last five years. Last year (2013) the total town-wide vote was 769, also an unusually low turnout, attributed to a large snowstorm that occurred that day. In 2012, the vote was 1,174. In 2011, it was 1,453.

A factor in the low turnout this year may have been the blustery, rainy weather that lasted throughout the day.

The election this year for fire commissioner was supposed to have been held on the second Tuesday in November as a result of state legislation passed in 2013 and signed by the governor that moved the voting date to the regular general election date in November. The Westchester County Board of Elections, however, declined to move the date.
