Tips to Renew and Re-energize in New Year Print

Dec. 31, 2013:  "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." – Lao Tzu. This is great advice to keep in mind as you start the new year. The new year is an opportunity to renew and re-energize your body and spirit. Instead of worrying or dreading that you have to do something for your health and fitness on January 1, simply change the focus. Here are some ideas.

First, re-empower the life athlete in you. Instead of running on the treadmill for hours, choose an activity that you truly enjoy doing--not just because you "have to." By sticking with something you love doing--whether it's yoga, tennis, or some other activity--you can achieve your fitness goals quickly and easily.

Second, stay hydrated with spring water and foods with a high water content. Replace the packaged processed foods and their unpronounceable ingredients with fresh, local organic fruits and vegetables. Invest in a juicer or blender for a daily dose of vitamins and essential nutrients.

Finally, if you do fall back into a bad habit, don't beat yourself up. Do the best with where you are. Dedicate time for yourself daily. Every effort made for your mind and body is worth it. Everyone deserves to feel vibrant, energized, and beautiful!
