Apr. 27, 2020:  Below are the latest COVID-19 statistics in New York State and local COVID-19 news this week.  

New York State COVID Statistics

According to the New York State Department of Health, as of April 28, 2020, at 3:28 PM, there are a total of 295,106 positive cases in New York State. 

This includes 28,245 in Westchester County. A total of 89,144 people in Westchester have been tested. Sadly, a total of 1,096 people in Westchester have lost their lives to COVID-19.

Other Local COVID-19 News This Week

On April 15, 2020: Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order 202.17 which states the following: "Effective at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2020, any individual who is over age two and able to medically tolerate a face-covering shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when in a public place and unable to maintain, or when not maintaining, social distance."  

On April 16, 2020, Governor Cuomo announced that "New York on PAUSE" will be extended until May 15th. He also outlined "a blueprint to get New Yorkers back to work and ease social isolation without triggering a renewed spread of the virus." Click here to read the plan.

On April 17, 2020, Bronxville Chief of Police, Christopher Satriale, and Mayor Mary Marvin sent out their bi-weekly audio message. Chief Satriale spoke about the Governor's executive order requiring face coverings and urged that Bronxville residents wear face coverings at all times when outside. Mayor Marvin reported that "we lost another great villager to this disease - Jim Kenney."  Marvin described him as "one of the kindest, most warm-hearted men I know." Click here to read the obituary for Jim Kenney. Click here to hear the full message from Chief Satriale and the Mayor.

On April 19, 2020, Governor Cuomo said, "In order for states to begin reopening, there needs to be federal coordination of the supply chain to bring testing to scale." Specifically, labs in New York need "more testing chemicals (known as "reagents")" to increase their testing.

On April 20, 2020, Governor Cuomo announced the creation of the "Reimagine NY Task Force to Improve systems in downstate New York."  He also "called on the federal government to provide hazard pay for essential public workers on the front lines, proposing a 50 percent bonus for these workers."

On April 20, 2020, Bronxville Chief of Police, Christopher Satriale and Mayor Mary Marvin sent out their bi-weekly audio message.  The Chief urged residents to wear face coverings when in the business district because the business district is dense, the sidewalks are narrow, and it is nearly impossible to practice social distancing.
