By Katie Gojkovich, Christ Church Bronxville

Jul. 12, 2017:  The steering committee of Eliza Corwin Frost recently announced the appointment of the school’s new director, Victoria ("Vicky") McLaughlin, who began her tenure on July 10.

Vicky joins ECF from her most recent role as the educational director of Early Learning Foundations and York Avenue Preschool in Manhattan. She earned a master of arts degree in early childhood education from Teachers College at Columbia University, with a focus on theories of development.

Vicky has many years of practical experience teaching two- and three-year-olds and inspiring the professionals who work with them. She spent more than a decade at Teachers College maintaining a classroom practice at the Rita Gold Center Lab School, training teachers and teaching undergraduate and master's degree seminars in early childhood development and theoretical foundations in early childhood.

As one member of the search committee noted, “I love the passion, experience, and knowledge that Vicky brings, and I think she will be a wonderful partner and resource for the staff and parents.”

Vicky is eager to get started and is excited about the opportunity to work with the children, families, and teachers of the ECF community. “Eliza Corwin Frost is already such a wonderful and embracing environment--everyone's efforts to move forward in such a positive direction are both challenging and exciting!”

The steering committee also expressed its gratitude to Steve Madey for his service as interim director.

March 22, 2017:  The Reformed Church Nursery School held its annual Progressive Dinner fundraiser on March 11.

The evening began with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at one of seven host homes in town.

From there, parents and teachers convened at Siwanoy Country Club where they enjoyed festival-themed food and beverages, beautiful artwork by the children, live and silent auctions, a band, a photo booth, and a fortune teller.

With “Peace, Love & RCNS” as the theme, the club was adorned with glowing white lights, feathers, flowers and dreamcatchers.

Proceeds from the event will support furthering technological upgrades to the school and classrooms, continuing education for teachers, and supporting the special programs and performances for our students.

Reformed Church Nursery School Partners with 'Bundles of Joy' PDF Print Email

By Daisy Hogan Neumark, Parent Writer for The Reformed Church Nursery School

Feb. 22, 2017:  The Reformed Church Nursery School (RCNS) is partnering with Bundles of Joy NY, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) startup organization located in Bronxville and founded by RCNS mom Adrienne Harper.

Bundles of Joy provides new moms and babies from birth to 3 years with the essentials they need to thrive. The charity leverages community partnerships to help those in low-income or homeless situations in local neighborhoods.

As a place of extreme haves and have-nots, Westchester County is the ideal location to engage communities that have with communities that are in need.

There will be a year-round drive at RCNS, with one main collection box. Bundles of Joy also hopes to get local businesses and community interest to host drives either for a day, a week, or a month going forward. Bundles of Joy can also pick up from homes.

Bundles of Joy collects new and “nearly new” baby items through grassroots community drives and corporate donations. Donations are then sorted, bundled, and delivered to disadvantaged children through a network of social service agencies and local hospitals.

To get involved, please visit www.bundlesofjoyny.org to learn how to donate items, host a drive, and further the mission.
