Thursday, September 29:  Political scientist and specialist in Middle Eastern studies at Northwestern University Wendy Pearlman will be presenting a lecture titled "Understanding Syria:  The Lived Experience of Protest, War, and Exile" at 5:15 pm in the Heimbold Visual Arts Center on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College. Saturday, October 1:  Bronxville will be celebrating Salute to Seniors day with events for seniors. Three restaurants will be offering "silver-plate" specials--Underhills Crossing, Fogarty's, and Park 143 Bistro; informational tables will be set up by community organizations on Pondfield Road from 10:30 am to noon; and there will be an art show by local artists over 55 at 2:00 pm in the Bronxville Public Library. Saturday, October 1:  The Bronxville Public Library will be sponsoring its Third Annual Zombie Night at 7:00 pm. The lights will be dimmed in the library, and teams of participants will be dodging zombie librarians. The team that collects the most survival items wins a prize. Sunday, October 2:  The Reformed Church of Bronxville will hold its annual Blessing of the Animals from noon to 1:00 pm on the grassy cloister area on Pondfield Road. Bring animals or their pictures for blessing.

Sunday, October 2:  Concordia Conservatory will give a concert at 3:00 pm titled "Songs of War" at OSilas Gallery on the campus of Concordia College in association with its exhibition The Art of War: Posters from World War I & World War II. For more information, go to

Sunday, October 2:  Gramatan Village and WELC/Live with Care invite the community to experience an hour of contemplative harp music with music-thanatologist Catharine DeLong at 3:00 pm in the Yeager Room of the Bronxville Public Library.
