May 14, 2025: The NCAA Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Championships began last week. Bronxville High School has a strong tradition of producing top lacrosse talent, and this year is no exception. Six former Broncos are featured on the rosters of teams competing in the 2025 NCAA tournaments.
College Lacrosse Teams with Broncos Playing in the Quarter Finals of the NCAA Tournament This Week
The University of Pennsylvania women's team, which includes Bronxville player Catherine Berkery (BHS '23) is now in the quarter finals of the NCAA Tournament. They face Northwestern on May 15th at noon. To advance to the quarter finals, Penn defeated Maryland in a thrilling 11-10 victory in overtime with Berkery scoring the game-winning goal. Berkery (BHS ’23), a standout attacker at the University of Pennsylvania, has played in every game over the past two seasons and has scored an impressive 67 goals and 26 assists during that span. While at Bronxville, Berkery was a key member of the State Championship team and earned both All-American and All-State honors.
The Princeton men's team, which includes former Bronxville players Coulter Mackesy (Brunswick '21) and Wilder Burgin (BHS '23) is also in the quarter finals of the NCAA Tournament. They face Syracuse on May 18th at 2:30.
Coulter Mackesy, who grew up in Bronxville and graduated from the Brunswick School in Greenwich, is now a senior at Princeton and is a standout player on the team. Coulter just broke the record for all-time leading goal scorer at Princeton, was named a Tewaarton Finalist, and was drafted #4 to play in the Premier Lacrosse League (PPL), which is North American's professional lacrosse league.
Wilder Burgin (BHS ’23), now a sophomore, is also on the Princeton team. Burgin was named a USA Lacrosse Academic All-American during his time at Bronxville.

Other Former Broncos on Teams That Played in 2025 NCAA Tournament
Luke Arrighi (BHS ’24) is a freshman lacrosse player at University of North Carolina. While at Bronxville, Arrighi earned USA Lacrosse All-American honors and was a three-time All-State selection.
Kiki Tormey (BHS '22) is playing women's lacrosse (midfield) at Brown University and also played in the NCAA Division 1 Women's Lacrosse tournament. When she was in Bronxville High School, Kiki was captain of the State Championship team and received Academic All American in 2021 and 2022. Additionally, while in high school, Kiki also played basketball and soccer.

Bridget Finley (BHS ’22) competed this week in the NCAA Division 3 Tournament with Amherst College. Finley, who was one of the captains of Bronxville’s State Championship squad, was named All-Section during her high school career.
Other Former Broncos Who Have Played in the College Lacrosse NCAA Tournament in Past Years
Bronxville High School has long been a strong pipeline for Division 1 lacrosse programs with many former Broncos making their mark in the NCAA Tournament over the past 15 years.
Three Bronxville alums have gone on to win National Championships at the DI level. Andrew Walsh (BHS ’12) played for the University of Maryland contributing to the team’s NCAA Championship in 2022, and Ted Forst (BHS ’15) played for Yale when the team won its first-ever NCAA National Championship in 2018. Most recently, Allie Berkery, BHS ’18, helped lead Northwestern to three consecutive NCAA D1 tournament appearances, culminating in a National Championship title in 2023.
Many former Broncos from the boys’ team have competed in the NCAA D1 lacrosse tournament including Jack Near (BHS ’11, Notre Dame), Brewster Warble (BHS ’13, Brown), Jack Grass (BHS ’13, Johns Hopkins), Owen Jones (BHS ’14, Yale), Matt Behrens (BHS ’14, Georgetown), Henry Grass (BHS ’15, Johns Hopkins), Reilly Walsh (Duke), and Ralph Chrappa (BHS ’15, Princeton), and Ara Atayan (BHS '17, UNC),
There have also been many standouts from the Bronxville girls’ lacrosse team who have competed in the D1 NCAA tournament including Lily Grass (BHS ’16, Michigan), Beth Finley (BHS ’17, Penn), Gretchen Richter (BHS ’14, Bucknell), and Olivia Shinsato (BHS ’23, Georgetown).
More About The 2025 NCAA Tournament
The Men’s NCAA D1 lacrosse tournament features 18 teams with 10 earning automatic bids by winning conference championships and 8 at-large selections. According to insidelacrosse.com, this year Cornell is the No. 1 seed followed by Maryland, Princeton, and Ohio State. The first round of the tournament is televised on ESPN2, and coverage ends with the National Championship game on May 26th.
The Women’s D1 Lacrosse tournament has 29 teams. Fifteen conference champions earned automatic bids, and 14 programs were at-large selections. North Carolina is the top seed followed by Boston College, Northwestern, and Florida. The Championship Game will take place on May 25th.
Other Former Broncos Currently on College Lacrosse Teams
There are also a number of other players currently playing on college lacrosse teams including Marco Wimmershoff. Marco Wimmershoff was the starting goalie for the BXV Varsity team when he was in 8th and 9th grade, and then transferred to the Salisbury School, from where he graduated in 2023. He is now a Sophomore on the Rutgers University team.

Another college player is Chris Patterson (BHS '23). As a freshman, Chris played for Hobart College, finishing as Rookie of the Year and led the team in points. He entered the transfer portal last May. Inside Lacrosse cited him as "one of the most sought-after recruits in the portal." Chris is currently playing at University of Pennsylvania, as an Attack starter and finished the season top 5 in points. At Bronxville, Chris was a two-time Varsity Captain, All-American and two-time All-State Selection. He also played soccer and was two-time all-League. Chris finished fifth in points on the Bronco lacrosse career list, with 235 points.
