Poem by Anne Coffey in Honor of National Poetry Month: "Rising"

Artwork above by Judy Biron

April 16, 2025:  In honor of national poetry month, MyhometownBronxville.com is featuring poems every week of April written by Bronxville poets.  Below is a poem by Bronxville resident Anne Churchill Coffey.

Rising

Talk to the birds,

They are rising.

Why are they rising?

They rise out of the gray, the darkness, the humanness of life,

The trees, the clouds, the leaves, the fragility of existence.

See how they rise,

Take flight,

They are suspended in the moment.

And yet, this is their journey, RISING
