Feb. 28, 2024: Under the guidance of Troop Leaders Christine Muaddi and Mirtha Kastrapeli, the Bronxville Girl Scout Troop 2489, comprising 20 spirited 3rd and 4th grade girls, has embarked on an ambitious journey. Their goal? To sell 3,000 boxes of cookies, retailing at $6 each. This year the Troop is selling cookies both in person and online.

The mission behind this endeavor is twofold: to raise funds for charities and to finance the troop's adventures and community projects throughout the year.
Troop 2489 has a rich history of contributing positively to the Bronxville area. Their past projects have been meaningful and impactful, including a park clean-up at the Urban River at Beczak (CURB), distributing hot cocoa and snacks during the Eastchester holiday lights celebration, and an educational session on democracy and voting with former county legislator Ruth Walter. These activities benefit the community and offer the scouts valuable lessons in teamwork, leadership, and civic responsibility.
The cookie sale serves as a practical lesson in entrepreneurship for the scouts. By managing money, setting goals, meeting deadlines, working collaboratively, and understanding customer needs, Troop 2489's members are gaining essential life skills.
These experiences prepare them to become ethical, reliable entrepreneurs and conscientious community members. Dakota Ching, a Girl Scout member, says, "I think every time I go to someone's door to sell Girl Scout cookies, I get to learn what they think and what their ideas are, and I also feel like I'm part of the community."
In embracing modern technology, Troop 2489 is making it easier than ever for supporters to purchase cookies and contribute to their cause. By offering online sales, the troop ensures that anyone can participate in supporting their ambitious goal, regardless of their location.
Your support of Bronxville Girl Scout Troop 2489's cookie sale not only means enjoying delicious cookies but also contributing to the development and empowerment of these young scouts. It's an investment in their future and in the well-being of the Bronxville community.
The cookie sale ends on Sunday, March 17th. Let's rally behind these young leaders and their commendable efforts to make a difference, one cookie box at a time.
