Feb. 14, 2024: The Village of Bronxville Board of Trustees met on February 12, 2024.
The meeting began with a presentation by the executive director of Sustainable Westchester regarding the Westchester Power Program.
Sustainable Westchester helps communities leverage their buying power to purchase electricity at competitive rates. It solicits bids from companies for the right to supply its communities with electricity, and the goal is to deliver electricity at the best rate. Sustainable Westchester also aims to provide a "green power" option to communities. Energy delivery is managed by Con Edison.
Mayor Marvin reported that the Bronxville Picture House had a sold-event event for the documentary about the Greystone Bakery. The Bakery's #1 customer is Ben & Jerry's ice cream which purchases the Bakery's brownies for their brownie ice cream. Because of this tie, Ben and Jerry were at the Picture House event. The Picture House is having another fundraiser on March 9th. The recent Historical Conservancy event featuring documentarian Ken Burns was also sold out. She also urged people to shop local.
Trustee Behrens reported that Haagen Dazs in Bronxville is closing for a month-long renovation. She also said that NYP Westchester in Bronxville is renovating the maternity wing and lobby.
Trustee Helen Knapp reported that the Bronxville Library patio project is on budget and on schedule.
Trustee Bill Fredericks reported that Maltby Park is being actively used.
Village Administrator Jim Palmer reported that Westchester County received an emergency declaration related to the September 29 rain event that caused flooding in Bronxville. As a result, Bronxville will be applying for $30k to $40k to help fund public infrastructure improvements.
He also reported that the village is scheduling a public hearing regarding a proposed local law that would require homeowners to inspect the sewer lines from the main line to their homes. The homeowner would need to provide proof to the village that they have had their line inspected and that it is in working condition when they make a major improvement to their residence or prior to the sale of their property.
