E.W. Richard “Rick” Templeton, 86, Passed Away on November 12, 2023

Nov. 15, 2023: E.W. Richard “Rick” Templeton, 86, of Bronxville, NY passed away on November 12th, 2023.  He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 50 years, Betty Cuningham Templeton; his loving sons Bayard (Alex) Templeton of East Norriton, PA and Rich Templeton of New York, NY; his loyal sister Anne Templeton MacAskill of Peabody, MA; his sister-in-law Ann Cuningham Keep and brother-in-law Scott Keep of Washington, DC; his nieces Kathy Keep of Washington, DC and Sarah (Mike) Perucci of Arlington, VA; and his grandchildren Issie and Jamie Templeton of East Norriton, PA.

Rick was born on August 28th, 1937 in Washington, DC.  He grew up in Miami Beach, FL.  After attending Miami Country Day School, Rick attended and graduated from The Hill School in Pottstown, PA in 1955.  He then completed his BA at Yale University in 1959, followed by his MBA at Harvard Business School in 1962.  He served in the US Army Reserve from 1963-1965.

Early in his career he worked in brand management at Proctor and Gamble and in new product development at Bristol-Myers.  Later, he worked on a variety of independent investment ventures as chairman of INPID Group, followed by Hilbert, Peers & Young.  He was an active volunteer and leader at the Harvard Business School Club (HBSC) of New York for more than 30 years, primarily in organizing programs and inviting speakers.  This work earned him the HBSC President’s Award in 1995 and the HBSC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.

Rick enjoyed working and socializing in New York City.  He also liked to play golf and tennis at the Rockaway Hunting Club in Lawrence, NY and on family vacations to Waterville Valley, NH.  After he and his family moved to Bronxville in 1993, Rick enjoyed participating in the Men’s Group and several Christmas pageants at the Reformed Church of Bronxville.  He also developed a fondness for paddle tennis and served as a member of the Bronxville Non-Partisan Committee for the Bronxville Board of Education.

A proud father, Rick would often be seen at his sons’ performances, sporting events, and milestones with a camera and camcorder in tow.  He was also a huge supporter of his wife’s career and was a fixture at her galleries’ openings and events.

He was predeceased by his parents, Emma Wehr Templeton and Dr. Earl Richard Templeton (Miami Beach, FL), and his brother John Templeton (Atlanta, GA).

Visiting hours will take place on Sunday, November 19th between the hours of 2pm and 4pm at The Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY 10708.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 20th at 11am at the Reformed Church of Bronxville, 180 Pondfield Road, Bronxville, NY 10708.  The service will be live streamed at https://youtube.com/live/TiWwTVPw1_8.
