Track and Field
There are just two weeks left in the season, but there is no letup in Bronxville sporting events. Yesterday, Chambers Field and the James Mitchell Track were bustling with activity until late in the evening as the Bronxville outdoor track and field teams hosted the League 3B Championships with Tuckahoe, Woodlands, Rye Neck, and Blind Brook attending.

In other track and field news, Bronxville relay teams headed to Philadelphia last week to compete in the Penn Relays, the oldest and largest track and field meet in the US.
“It's always great to be able to compete against some of the very best from around the country and even the world,” noted Coach Brian Halling.

Highlights of the Penn Relays were the Bronxville girls’ 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams. Juliet Winiecki, Mai Ly Reinking, Kara Kochansky, and Danielle Dragoni ran the 4x00m in 50.58, and the same four girls finished the 4x400m in 4:02.13. The girls hit the New York State super standard, which means they have a fast enough time to automatically qualify for the State Championship in June.
Tennis

The boys’ tennis team took a trip to Flushing Queens to play last week on the hallowed grounds of the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the site of the US Open. Most of the team has ventured to this location during the US Open tournament, but to play on those same courts was a total thrill for the players, their parents, and the fans.
The Broncos competed against Briarcliff and won 4-1 overall. Patrick Kenny won 6-1, 6-3 at first singles, Max Monogenis won 6-0, 6-2 at the second position, and Jackson Fino added a win at third singles with a score of 6-1, 6-4. Jay Marshall and Charlie Clifford also won at first doubles and Alex Ladas and Luca Barron won at second doubles.
“We went down and played under the lights so that was an added thrill,” said Coach Steve Klurfeld. “Although we didn't get to play on the largest stadiums, we did play on courts with stands, and lots of people came down to cheer on our team.”
Lacrosse
The girls’ lacrosse team is 4-5 so far this season, and the boys’ team record is similar at 4-6. The win-loss record hardly tells the story for these teams whose regular season schedules are packed with out-of-class, out-of-section, and out-of-state competition. The Broncos will compete in Class D once the playoff season begins and should fare well against similarly sized schools.
The Bronco girls had wins over top-ranked Yorktown (14-12) and Mamaroneck (14-10) in the last two weeks, but in last Thursday’s game against a very strong Somers team, the Broncos lost 10-9 in double overtime. Bronxville is currently ranked No. 4 in Class D in New York State by Lax Numbers.
The boys’ lacrosse team is positioned right behind No. 1 Pleasantville in the Class D rankings. Pleasantville and Bronxville are also highly ranked in the New York State with the Panthers at No. 1 and the Broncos at No. 5. These two teams will meet for the first time tomorrow at 5PM in Pleasantville.
There is some serious competition in Class D in Section 1. In addition to Pleasantville and Bronxville, Briarcliff also has a strong state ranking and sits at No. 6. The Broncos faced the Bears last Friday and walked away with a 5-4 win.
Baseball

The baseball team continues to have success this spring . With a 12-2-1 record, the team is ranked No.1 in Class B. Sr. Chris Lockwood threw a complete game 6-0 No-Hitter yesterday against Dobbs Ferry. The Bronco defense was tight and error free.
The Broncos also defeated Albertus Magnus last Friday. Chris Lockwood got the win after relieving Ted Heraty who pitched 5 solid innings. Connor Kenny had 3RBIs including the go ahead run-in the top of the sixth inning. Bronxville is now 5-1 in league games.
Football
In off-season football news, senior Lou-Fei Sung was honored last week at the 50th Annual National Football Foundation. He received Golden Dozen, honorable mention, for his academic, athletic and extracurricular activities. The award recognizes the top 25 football scholar-athletes in Westchester.
Go Broncos.
