Letters to the Community in Support of Edward Lennon for Bronxville School Board

May 11, 2022

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

We are writing to urge you to consider proud Bronxville School alumnus, father and local business owner Eddie Lennon in the May 17th school board election.  Some of us have known Eddie for decades - as childhood friends or even as his teacher at Bronxville School - others have come to know him and his family more recently.  We would like to introduce Eddie and spotlight some of the particular skills and experience he would bring to the board.  First and foremost, we attest to Eddie's integrity, enthusiasm and passion for ensuring that our most valuable assets - our children - continue to benefit from the superb education and community that Bronxville School has offered and ought to continue to provide for many decades to come.

Edward Lennon

Eddie owns and operates a nearly 90-year-old family business specializing in architectural and industrial coatings.  Our beautiful school is celebrating its centennial this year, and with that milestone come attendant physical plant challenges and opportunities.  His decades of professional experience focused on the maintenance and construction of medium-large facilities would bring a critical skill set to the board.  Obtaining and reviewing bids & proposals, navigating various levels of regulatory requirements and identifying and working with appropriate contractors and businesses are important and ongoing responsibilities for which Eddie's background would make him invaluable.

As a father of three, Eddie is very invested in the continuing excellence of Bronxville School.  As a Bronxville School Board Trustee, he will work to engage parents, get students and families back to their pre-COVID levels of school involvement, take an active role in the ongoing superintendent search which will shape the school's future leadership and ensure that all our children receive an appropriate education - including for those with special needs and those who are committed to raising their personal academic achievement bar.  He will be sure to prioritize the Bronxville Promise, understanding that schooling is more than just academics - we aim to raise engaged, accountable, compassionate young men and women who treat all individuals with dignity and respect.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Eddie and we hope you will join us in supporting him on May 17th in the blue gym at Bronxville School.

Sincerely,

Hugh Allen

Dear Bronxville:

My name is Barbara White, I have been a Bronxville resident since 1966, a parent of two Bronxville graduates, a former teacher in The Bronxville School for 35 years, and a former member of the NPC.  I have read all of the information regarding the NPC candidates, and yes, their qualifications are stellar.  But no one in the group has any experience in construction, building maintenance, the day to day operations of a facility as large and important as OUR SCHOOL.

Your candidates have wonderful credentials, mostly in the financial arena.  But Edward Lennon has qualifications we need!  His background starts with the fact he has lived here all his life, went through the school K-12, in fact he was a student of mine for two years, and witnessed the numerous school floods and resulting damages.  He has young children in the school, has knowledge and concern about curriculum;  HE CARES!

His business background, working with contractors, workmen, owners, is essential to successful results when caring for a building, especially one like OUR school.  He is a hands-on person, and will be able to help us in construction and maintenance issues.  There are several candidates with financial expertise, but NONE with his background.

We all need to seriously think about having a well-rounded group of School Board Trustees who will have multiple areas of expertise.  Construction is something that is ongoing and needs knowledgeable people engaged in seeing that every project is completed successfully, and in a timely fashion.  ED LENNON is that person!

Think twice about this when you vote!  Thank You.

Barbara White
