May 4, 2022: Westchester Parks Foundation and Westchester County Parks have announced details for the 48th Annual Bicycle Sundays season for 2022.
During Bicycle Sundays, bicyclists, skaters, joggers and walkers take over 6.5 miles of the Bronx River Parkway. The program kicked off on May 1 and continues every Sunday in May, June, and September except Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. The program is presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by the Westchester Parks Foundation and its partners, through generous donations from co-presenting sponsors NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital and Con Edison.
To help kick off the series, Westchester Parks Foundation and Westchester County Parks Department is promoting Bicycle Safety Month this May with tips to help promote a safe ride along the 6.5 miles of the Bronx River Parkway.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said, “Year after year, the community comes out in droves to participate in Bicycle Sundays. It’s such a wonderful program that allows friends and families to practice healthy traditions together while soaking in the scenery of the Bronx River Reservation.”
Residents and visitors can enjoy Bicycle Sundays this year on the following dates between
10 a.m. and 2 p.m.:
Bicycle Sundays are a beloved Westchester tradition since 1974. Since 2012, this program has been funded by Westchester Parks Foundation and its partners. Each year, more than 60,000 cyclists, joggers, and others come out to enjoy the curves and wooded scenery that make the nation’s first parkway a national historic landmark. The path winds alongside the wooded Bronx River Reservation.
