Dec, 15, 2021: Thanks to all who participated and/or donated, the 15th Annual Katie Welling Run was a great success!
Katie’s Run which normally takes place on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend and benefits the Bronxville School Foundation ran virtually again this year for the two-week period from November 15 to November 30. While the Bronxville School Foundation and the Wellings had hoped that this beloved Bronxville tradition would be able to be live as well as virtual for 2021, due to the continued concern with COVID-19, it was ultimately concluded that virtual made the most sense to ensure maximum safety and flexibility for our participants.
“We are so happy that we were able to continue this very special community tradition safely and honor Katie,” said Rob Crystal, Bronxville School Foundation Chairperson. "This year marked the 15th annual run/walk and we are so grateful to Helen and Tom Welling for their continued partnership and support of the Foundation."
This year’s virtual event had over 214 participants and donors and raised over $23,000. In addition to those participating locally, we had people from as far away as California, Illinois, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC and even Nicaragua! We want to thank this amazing community which included Bronxville alums, community members and friends and family who continued to capture the spirit of the event by participating virtually and sharing photos of their run/walk/bike on social media.
Stay tuned for 2022 as we are hopeful that we will be able to bring back our live event.
