Nov. 17, 2021: The Bronxville Village Board of Trustees met for their regular monthly meeting on November 8.
Mayor Marvin reported that all the news was “really positive” this month. She spoke about the wonderful Bronxville Halloween parade and the success of Take Back Day, which included 221 cars going to the shredder alone. With the holiday season approaching, Mayor Marvin encouraged villagers to “shop local” this holiday season.
Trustee Helen Knapp spoke about the amazing efforts of the Green Committee. There is a large effort around food scrapping. There is now a collection area on Palumbo Place and the village has ordered 600 starter kits. There will be a roll-out of the scrap program in the next couple of months. The Green Committee is also working on getting Bronxville certified as a bronze-status climate-smart community.
On other fronts, the village has commenced weekly Covid testing of the police force, will be installing two additional car charging stations in the Garden Avenue lot, and is continuing work on the “safe streets' initiative, which is aimed at promoting walkability in the village. There has been particular concern about more safe crossings across Route 22. Finally, the village has retained a firm to look at recommendations for the west side circle, where there is a lot of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Village Administrator, Jim Palmer, commented that, given the recent excessive rainfall events, the village needs to comprehensively look at stormwater improvements that the village can make.
