Letter to the Community in Support of Ruth Walter

To the Editor:

Oct. 27, 2021: The Bronxville Village Democratic Committee is urging all residents of Legislative District 15, which includes the Village of Bronxville, to vote to re-elect County Legislator Ruth Walter on November 2. Ruth is our first Bronxville resident to serve as County legislator.

The work of the County Legislature often goes unseen, but its decisions can have a dramatic impact on the lives of people in our district.  The Legislature modifies and approves the County budget which includes, in part, expenditures on roads, parks, various policing services, environmental work, and social services. The proposed capital budget for 2022 is composed of an extensive list of investments totaling $476.4 million in new appropriations laid out in a 707-page document. The operating budget will be even larger, funding a wide range of services and departments.

Clearly, our District needs a Legislator who has the ability, tenacity, and motivation to work through these budgets. Allocations for flood control, parks improvements, and other vital services for our district depend on responsible, detailed review.  Ruth Walter is the candidate best equipped for this challenge.

District 15 extends from North Yonkers, through East Yonkers, to the Village of Bronxville.  Ruth has done a great job at representing all the people in our sprawling district. She has ensured that County funds go to worthy organizations throughout our area. A summary of her committee positions and accomplishments is on the County website at https://www.westchesterlegislators.com/district-15

Notably, she is Chair of the Environment and Health Committee and Vice-Chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee.

It takes maturity and patience to work with other County Legislators, the executive branch, and numerous state and federal elected officials. Ruth has these qualities. At the same time, Ruth responds to constituents, addressing their concerns with sensitivity and knowledge. For clarification on issues or to contact Ruth directly, please go to her campaign website: https://www.electruthwalter.com/.

Let’s capitalize on the experience Ruth has gained in her first term and re-elect her as our County Legislator. Vote on November 2 for Ruth Walter.

Very truly yours,

The Bronxville Village Democratic Committee:
