Heritage 147 in Larchmont Takes Modern American Dining in Some New Directions

By Karen Talbot

July 21, 2021: Heritage 147 in Larchmont opened in February of this year and is already starting to rise in popularity. The restaurant's co-owners, Rich Perez and Alissa Svorka, have taken modern American dining in some new directions with a creative focus on skillfully prepared ingredients from small-batch purveyors. With a large open kitchen, this rustic and casual spot invites you to experience the ongoings of all of the food preparation.

We started our meal with taste sensations from the "Sharing" category, including a Wild Mushroom Ragu filled with a variety of mushrooms with Anson Mills grits, herbs, sherry, and smoked hazelnuts along with Local Ceviche of Hake, green garlic, citrus, red onion, avocado, and a savory pancake.

From "Graze," where you can add chicken, shrimp, or steak, we enjoyed two salads: a Baby Kale & Arugula of Moroccan spiced almonds, pickled grapes, goat cheese in a champagne vinaigrette and the Roasted Beets & Horseradish with spicy greens, hard-boiled egg, and dill. Here the horseradish could have been more prominent.

Under "Substantial," the Special of the night was a delicious Lobster Roll, served with melted butter and Kensington Ketchup and divine chopped-up roasted potatoes. The ABF Free Range Chicken with avocado puree, roasted summer squashes, and confit cherry tomatoes was moist and flavorful, as was the Cured Duck Breast with arugula, red onion, strawberries, snap peas in a spiced duck demi-glace.

From "Sweet," you have to have the Fresh Donuts, which are six small morsels that you dip into a yummy hot chocolate sauce and the silky smooth Coconut Panna Cotta with lavender-scented Carolina strawberries. Also for dessert, they serve Blue Marble Organic Ice Cream and Sorbets from Brooklyn.

From Tuesday through Friday, go there for Happy Hour libations of Draft Beer, Craft Cocktails, and a couple of white and red wines from California and the North Fork of Long Island, along with five choices of "Bites." In addition, Tuesday is "Oyster Night," and you can fill up with $2.00 freshly shucked oysters.

Other noteworthy menu categories are ten "Cheeses," mainly from Vermont sources like Jasper Hill Farms, Vermont Shepherd, and Von Trapp Farmstead. You can also order "Meats," including Chorizo, Duck Salumi, and Soppressata, all served with warm bread accompaniments.

Heritage 147 can seat 72 people indoors at the bar or the main dining room, with a combination of wood banquettes, regular tables, and high tops, or 40 people outside in their delightful space in front of the restaurant.

HERITAGE 147 is located at 147 Larchmont Avenue in Larchmont, N.Y. 914- 292-5320. Hours of Operation are Tues. through Sat. from 4 to 10 pm for dinner only with brunch coming soon.
