Feb. 24, 2021: Little Mikey is 6 pounds of pure joy. He is a one-year-old Chihuahua mix, and although his body is tiny, his heart is huge.
Mikey is sweet and affectionate. He loves to play, sit on your lap, and give kisses. Basking in your attention is his favorite pastime.
This little guy is a great eater and is doing extremely well with his potty training. Every day that Mikey has been with his foster family, more and more of his charm comes shining through.
Initially, Mikey was not interested in playing with his canine foster siblings, but he is nicely coming out of his shell and now loves to engage with them in playtime each day. He extremely comfortable in his crate and is completely quiet through the night.
This little Texas boy has not yet learned to love the cold weather; he needs to be encouraged to stay outside to finish his business, but he is super smart and improving each day.
Mikey sometimes barks at strangers and seems to be somewhat protective of "his person," but he immediately takes to visitors if they bend down and extend him their hand. Within moments he will begin showering them with kisses and snuggles.
Mikey would do great in many types of living situations. He does not need another dog to be happy, but because of his size, a smaller dog would be better for him, and a home with older children or children who are familiar with smaller dogs would be ideal. Mikey would also make a great companion dog in a quiet home with one or two people.
Whoever ends up with this precious pup will be one lucky owner. Mikey is healthy, neutered, and fully vaccinated. For more information about him, please visit A New Chance Rescue at https://anewchancear.org/, email or call (914) 205-7066
