Concordia College Celebrates White Coat Ceremony for Nursing Students

Nov. 6, 2013:  Concordia College's Division of Nursing recently held its sixth annual white coat ceremony. The ceremony acknowledges the students' transition from the study of preclinical to clinical nursing courses.

Dr. Kathleen Flaherty, chair of the division of nursing at Concordia, presented the white coats to more than 70 nursing students at a ceremony with faculty and loved ones present.

"This night was very special. It marks the beginning of our students' journey in professional nursing," said Flaherty. "When our students wear their white coats, the coat represents our core values of the nursing profession. We are so proud of their dedication and to celebrate this with them and their loved ones."

Concordia College offers three nursing programs. The programs include a traditional undergraduate BS program, a 15-month post-baccalaureate degree program for those who hold a bachelor's degree in another academic discipline, and, beginning in January of 2014, an RN to BS program.

The RN to BS program is an accelerated program for registered nurses who wish to complete their bachelor's degree.

For more information on the RN to BS program, please contact Erik Graybosch in the admission office at 914-337-9300, ext. 2142.
