'Mini-Courses' with Global Focus on History and Music at Sarah Lawrence January 15-17


Dec. 31, 2013: The Friends of the Sarah Lawrence College Library will present two mini-courses in January, a history course and a music course. These short courses, to be held on January 15, 16, and 17, will be taught by Sarah Lawrence College history and music faculty members.

The history course, The Global Scene: Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, will take place from 10:00 am to noon. The music course, What Makes It Italian, French, German?, will take place from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Both programs will be held in the Marshall Field building, Room 3, and are free to members of the Friends group. The history course will feature Kevin Landdeck, Merle Rosenblatt Goldman Chair in Asian Studies; Jefferson Adams, history faculty member who specializes in European studies; and Matthew Ellis, Christian A. Johnson Chair in International Affairs & Middle Eastern Studies. The music course will be taught by Martin Goldray, Marjorie Leff Miller Faculty Scholar in Music.

Friends of the Library membership is available at any time. A single membership is $45, $60 for couples. Membership benefits include invitations to visiting authors' programs, borrowing privileges at the library, whose collection has over 300,000 books, and reference use of over 1,000 English and foreign-language periodicals. Friends of the Library membership fees provide support for library acquisitions and the archives.
