Author Richard Morais '81 Returns to Sarah Lawrence College for Screening of 'The Hundred-Foot Journey' Friday, February 27

Feb. 25, 2015: Author Richard Morais, a 1981 Sarah Lawrence College alumnus, will return to campus on Friday, February 27, at 4:00 pm in the Donnelley Theatre in the Heimbold Visual Arts Center for a screening of The Hundred-Foot Journey, a film based on his acclaimed novel of the same name.
The screening will be followed by a reception and discussion with Morais and film history faculty member Malcolm Turvey. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Richard Morais is an American who was born in Portugal and raised in Switzerland. As a renowned journalist at Forbes magazine for 25 years, he lived in London and was able to travel, live, and write around the world.
His first book, The Hundred-Foot Journey (2010), reflects his global awareness and is both an international and a New York Times best seller, while his newest book, Buddhaland Brooklyn (2013), has also received praise.
The Hundred-Foot Journey was turned into a major motion picture released in 2014 starring Helen Mirren and Om Puri, produced by Juliet Blake, Oprah Winfrey, and Steven Spielberg. The film garnered a Golden Globe nomination for Helen Mirren as well as awards from the Heartland Film Festival and The Norwegian International Film Festival.
