To the Editor:
Nov. 2, 2016: This 2016 election cycle has resulted in nation-wide anxiety. Almost no one likes or trusts the two main candidates--many people actually fear one or both. And yet on November 8 they will have to go to the polls and vote for one of them to be the next president of the United States.
What is particularly troubling is that many people seem to demonize those who have made a choice differing from theirs. Most people have thoughtfully made a choice between two historically unpopular candidates--often based on who they think will do the least damage. (What a terrible assessment to have to make when voting for the president of this great country.) It's important to recognize the integrity of others' decisions, even when we disagree with them.
The election is Tuesday, November 8. On November 9, things will not get better. Whatever the outcome, we need to treat each other with respect and civility. Now more than ever, we need to work together.
