Letter to the Editor: Maggie Marrone of Bronxville Beautification Council Thanking Generous Donors

 alt

To the Editor:

Dec. 14, 2016:  As fall turns to winter and we start planning for the spring, the Bronxville Beautification Council (BBC) wishes to acknowledge all of our generous donors, with special thanks to the Gedney Farms Nursery in White Plains for the excellent work they did to help make this year's plantings such a huge success.

The year 2016 has been an especially good year for our projects. Due to weather conditions and the numerous irrigation and soil improvements the BBC has undertaken over the past few years, the flowers we planted were not only dense and full, but exceptionally long lasting. Due to a particularly mild fall, we are just now beginning to remove the annuals from our village beds and planting thousands of tulip bulbs. Look forward to a beautiful spring bloom!

For Bronxvillagers not familiar with our efforts, the BBC is a nonprofit organization in charge of the planting and maintenance of the following village public areas:

       1. Islands around the village business district

       2. Railroad banks surrounding the underpass

       3. Large pots on the hospital side of the train station

       4. Fountain circle in the middle of the village roundabout

       5. Landscaping in front of the Bronxville Post Office

The BBC is completely funded by donations from our generous citizens. Save the date for our next fundraiser, a reception in a magnificent Bronxville garden, to be held on June 10, 2017. Tax-deductible donations to the BBC are greatly appreciated year round and can be mailed to Bronxville Beautification Council, PO Box 127, Bronxville, NY 10708.
