Oct. 14, 2020: It is opening week for the Broncos, and on Saturday, the varsity soccer teams played at Chambers Field for the first time since March.

In the first round of the annual Broncofest, the boys’ varsity team defeated Tuckahoe 4-1, but the girls’ team lost 1-0 to Pelham on a penalty kick. The finals and consolation games were rained out on Monday.

Field hockey opened yesterday with a 3-1 against Pleasantville and will play at Ursuline today. The boys’ soccer team will play at home today against Croton-Harmon.

For all sporting events this fall, there is a limit to the number of spectators.

“Currently, we are only allowed to have 50 spectators in attendance for home games,” said Athletic Director Joe Haven. “Each athlete participating will be allowed to invite two guests. Spectators will have to complete a COVID questionnaire, have their temperature taken, wear masks, and social distance at all home games.”

To help with the administration of games, Chambers Field will only have a single point of entry, and guests will only be permitted to arrive through the entrance on Meadow Ave.

Fifty guests may seem restrictive; however, thanks to a grant from the Bronxville School Foundation, fans will be able to watch both home and some away varsity games on LocalLive Networks.  Click here to watch games on LocalLive.

LocalLive, a digital video company that streams high school sports, has installed remote-controlled cameras at Chambers Field that will record every game. By next week, cameras will also be installed at Hayes Field. The games are live-streamed and then archived so they can be watched at any time.
