Apr. 22, 2020: MyhometownBronxville is featuring a "Photo of the Week" each week and posting event postponements. Please email relevant information to CLOAKING .

This week we are also including this inspirational quote that was shared by Bronxville School Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Roy Montesano, in a recent communication to the Bronxville community. The quote is from the book Run the Mile You're In, written by Olympic athlete and American half-marathon record holder Ryan Hall.

"At the start of a 26.2-mile race, the distance is overwhelming, but the only mile that has to be run is the one you're in. Worrying about the miles remaining could paralyze you in the current moment, could discourage you or drag you down. You know you can run a mile."

Event Cancellations & Postponements:

Local Election: The local election originally scheduled for April 28, 2020, will take place sometime after June 1, on a date to be determined.

We sincerely hope you can join us on the new date of Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Bronxville Field Club. Meanwhile, be well!

Bronxville Rotary Club:  Pursuant to Government Policy, The Rotary Club of Bronxville is postponing its Annual Benefit scheduled for April 24th, 2020.  Under these fluid circumstances, no future date is scheduled at the moment. We thank you for your continued support, and wish you and your families GOOD HEALTH.

Senior Citizens Council: Due to the current health crisis the Senior Citizens Council 50th anniversary benefit scheduled for April 23 has been postponed until October 15. All plans continue to move forward. We wish all our neighbors good health in this trying time.

Books & Culture

Bronxville Public Library

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children.  All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
