To The Editor:

Apr. 15, 2020: In the face of danger, most people run. It’s practically human nature. But there are a rare few, who, without thinking, will selflessly put themselves at risk to an extraordinary degree to save the life of another. Those people are heroes. All of you are our heroes.

We recognize the unimaginable sacrifices you are making and struggle to find the words that would adequately express our profound appreciation. Your long days, your ingenuity, and your compassion on this battlefield are saving people’s lives. Because of you, this war will come to an end, and so many will go home to their families and will cherish every day that you’ve given back to them.

We have always been proud of our association with NYP Lawrence - the best combination of big hospital know-how and community hospital kindness. We have had the deepest admiration over the years for the dedication of the NYP Lawrence staff, doctors, and nurses. But, now, we stand in awe of you.

We wish you strength and send prayers for your safety and for the swift return of better times.

With deepest gratitude,

NYP Lawrence Hospital Community Board Members
