Editors Note: The letter below was submitted in March of 2020 because the village elections were originally scheduled for March 18, 2020. Due to COVID-19, the village elections were rescheduled for September 15, 2020. Click here to learn more about the candidates for the village elections.

To the Editor,

Mar. 11, 2020: We write to express our strong bi-partisan support of Mary Taylor Behrens’ candidacy for Village Trustee.

Mary has lived in the Village for over 35 years and graduated from the Bronxville School. Mary was on Coach Jim Mitchell’s first Bronxville girls’ track team. She graduated with a degree in Government from Georgetown University, where she was captain of the Division I track team and currently serves on Georgetown’s Board of Regents. With her husband Chris, Mary raised her two sons in Bronxville, who are also graduates of the Bronxville School.

Mary has been a dedicated volunteer in the Bronxville community. Among her many volunteer activities, she has served as the Chairman of the Bronxville School Foundation, as Senior Warden at Christ Church of Bronxville, and as a board member of NYP Lawrence Hospital. Mary was instrumental in the renovation of Taylor Hall at Christ Church and the creation of the Carol H. Taylor Breast Center at NYP Lawrence.

Mary spent over 20 years in the finance industry in New York City, where she was a managing director in investment banking and served on the Executive Committee at Merrill Lynch & Co. Mary was the most senior woman and head of the $360 billion asset management division at Merrill when she retired. She then served on the board of three public healthcare companies, serving on the compensation, audit, nomination, and governance committees.

The Village would be so fortunate to have someone with Mary’s strong financial background and corporate governance experience combined with her deep knowledge of Bronxville to serve as a Village Trustee. Please vote for her on Wednesday, March 18.
