Dec. 4, 2019: Although street artist Banksy claims that "bus stops are far more interesting and useful places to have art than in museums," the Friends of the Bronxville Public Library (FOBPL) politely disagrees. That is why it funds a Museum Pass Program, which will soon include complimentary admission for two adults and children (17-and-under) to the newly-reopened Museum of Modern Art, to which tickets run $25 per person.
Museums ensure understanding and appreciation for various groups and cultures. They promote better understanding of our collective heritage and foster dialogue, curiosity, and self-reflection. Further, they serve to help future generations comprehend their history and recognize the achievements of those who came before them, according to Joan Wages, President Emerita of the National Women's History Museum.
The FOBPL provides passes to the following museums:
● American Museum of Natural History
● The Frick Collection
● The Guggenheim
● Hudson River Museum
● The Intrepid
● New York Historical Society
● Stepping Stones Museum
● Stone Barnes (free pass)
● The Storm King Art Center
"The Bronxville Library is so pleased to offer its patrons access to our Museum Pass Program, made possible through the funding of the Friends of the Bronxville Public Library," said Christine Utchel, Head of Adult Services. "Through this generous funding, we are able to offer Bronxville cardholders and FOBPL supporters free or discounted admission to a variety of museums in New York City and the lower Hudson Valley.
Our most popular museum passes are The American Museum of Natural History, The Frick Collection, and The Guggenheim."
Jennifer Sullivan said, "This is so great, so easy. I've used it for the Frick and Natural History museums (we already belong to the Met and MoMA), saved a lot of money, and no LINE! Just lobbed a call to the library and picked up the tickets. Thank you Friends of the Bronxville Public Library!
