Oct. 30, 2019: Gramatan Village’s Executive Director Sherry Saturno received the 2019 United Way “Rock Star Award” from the United Way of Westchester and Putnam for her work at Gramatan Village and as a leader in the field of aging.
The United Way is the largest privately-funded nonprofit in the world, creating local and national solutions to build stronger, healthier communities. The United Way of Westchester and Putnam’s annual Rock Star Awards honor five community-minded professionals who are making a difference in Westchester and Putnam Counties.
Saturno, licensed as a clinical social worker and nursing home administrator, holds Master’s degrees from Columbia and Long Island Universities. She served as a national post-graduate Fellow at NYU Silver School of Social Work in aging and completed certificate programs at Boston University and Stanford.
She wrote and produced a national award-winning short film, “Human Investment.” Her articles have also been published in Senior Planet, Social Work Today, and New Social Worker.
“I am very grateful to receive this award from the United Way, whose work I greatly admire. My rock stars are Gramatan Village’s members, volunteers, and Board, and I share this honor with them.”
