Burglary at Verizon Store in Bronxville PDF Print Email

Oct. 16, 2019: The following information was provided to MyhometownBronxville by the VIllage of Bronxville Police Department.

"On October 9, 2019, a burglary was discovered at the Verizon store at 89 Pondfield Road. The point of entry was a window in the rear of the business facing the Garden Avenue parking lot. The method of entry was breaking the window and climbing into the store.

Stolen from within the store were assorted cell phones and accessories. A review of footage from the village camera covering the Garden Avenue parking lot revealed a suspect vehicle. Review of additional cameras throughout the village revealed a license plate and direction of travel of the vehicle.

On October 10, 2019, at about 4 am the vehicle was located on Yonkers Avenue in Yonkers. A surveillance of the vehicle by members of the Bronxville Police Department was successful, and Sandro Suarez was arrested and charged with Burglary in the third degree. The vehicle was impounded as evidence in the case.

Subsequent to the arrest search warrants were executed on an apartment in Yonkers and the vehicle. Stolen property from the Verizon store was recovered from the apartment and in the trunk of the vehicle. Blood evidence was also recovered from the Verizon store, the vehicle, and the apartment.

Sandro Suarez was arraigned on October 11, 2019 and was transported to the County Jail in lieu of $5000.00 bail."

Bronxville Public Library

Bronxville Public Library

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children.  All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
