Historian Douglas Brinkley will be giving the annual Brendan Gill Lecture at 8:00 pm in the Bronxville School auditorium. The lecture is titled "John F. Kennedy and America's Race to the Moon." Saturday, June 8, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Bronxville Take-Back Day, Palumbo Place. The Bronxville Green Committee is sponsoring take-back day behind Village Hall, where you can bring paper, furniture, e-waste, towels and sheets, and clothing for recycling. Click here for details and restrictions.
Saturday, June 8, 11:00 am, Author Dani Shapiro in Conversation with President Judd at Sarah Lawrence. Best-selling author Dani Shapiro will engage in a discussion with the president of Sarah Lawrence College at 11:00 am on the campus of the college in The Performing Arts Center Reisinger Auditorium.
Sunday, June 9, 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Bronxville Beautification Council Garden Party. The Bronxville Beautification Council is hosting a cocktail party for garden enthusiasts to raise money for the council. On Monday, June 10, a breastfeeding support group, free and open to all regardless of location of birth, from 10:00 am to noon in the hospital lobby conference room (to register, call 914-787-2141), where new mothers can learn from one another and receive professional guidance from a lactation counselor, and a breastfeeding preparation class from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the third-floor conference room of Palmer Hall (preregistration and prepayment ($35) required; call 914-787-5044 to register).
On Tuesday, June 11, a childbirth class taught by certified Lamaze instructors from 7:30 to 10:00 pm in the hospital lobby conference room (tour of the Center for Maternal-Child Health included; $200; to register, call 914-787-5044).
