Bronxville Spirit Week Schedule of Events: Games, Food, Spirit PDF Print Email

By Linda Pagano, Bronxville Parent and Member of the Athletic Council

Apr. 17, 2019:  Bronxville is the place to be next week. Home of the Broncos. Catch the spirit all week beginning Monday, April 22, for the kick-off of the 2019 Bronxville Spirit Week, which will run through Sunday, April 28. A week honoring student-athletes, fans, and alumni, Spirit Week brings everyone together for all of the traditional spring sports. There will be fun in the stands, food, and, of course, school spirit.

Spirit Week is hosted by the Bronxville School Athletic Department and the Bronxville PTA Athletic Council. With feather flags flying high on Hayes Field, the Bronxville Village courts, and Scout Field, there will be something for everyone, including Broncos swag giveaways, great food, student announcers and DJs, bake sales, youth fan activities like running the bases after the game, meet the athletes, fan tunnels, and a pep rally and senior/faculty volleyball game.

The Broncos are all heart for Spirit Week. At any of the events, you can find the undercurrent of the Bronxville Promise at play. To appreciate their fans as well as to raise awareness and money for their favorite charities, the Broncos will demonstrate more than just the love of the sport and their school.

Bronxville’s baseball team will hold a bake sale at its fan appreciation game on Tuesday and raise money for Main Springs: The Janada L. Batchelor Foundation for Children, a charity with local community ties. The girls' lacrosse teams will be donating proceeds from the Broncos Barn & Grill concession stand during Wednesday’s fan appreciation game to the One Love Foundation with the boys' lacrosse team doing the same with the proceeds from its fan appreciation game on Thursday to the charity Autism Awareness.

Student-athletes are giving back to their community with their time, too. There will be the annual Elementary School Meet the Athlete, where Bronxville third-grade students will get a chance to meet Bronxville high school athletes, hear about their most memorable moments as athletes playing for Bronxville, the six pillars of character, the concept of a team, and dedication to academics, and ask questions.

There will also be a USO’s Heart to Home Bike Build Event for the children of local military families sponsored by the tennis, mountain biking, and golf teams. The boys' and girls' track teams hope to offer their annual Elementary School Track Clinic once the track construction project has been completed.

The Broncos Barn & Grill will be serving all of your sweet and savory favorites, including hotdogs, candy, snacks, and drinks, on Wednesday and Thursday during lacrosse games starting at 4:15 pm on Hayes Field. It’s the perfect time to skip dinner at home. Instead, bring the kids to the game and grab a hotdog and something sweet and cheer like crazy for your hometown Broncos!

Check out the schedule below and join the fans in the stands for a game.
