Friday, March 8, 7:00 pm, Bronxville Library Benefit--Raise a Glass to Hemingway. Organized by the board of the Friends of the Bronxville Public Library, this benefit for the Bronxville Public Library will have author-favored beverages, food, and raffle items donated by local merchants. Tickets start at $150 per person. Click here and here for more information.

Wednesday, March 6, to Tuesday, March 12, Seminars, Support Groups, Group Meetings, and Classes at NYP Lawrence Hospital. NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital will be holding the following:

On March 6, a joint replacement seminar from 9:45 to 11:15 am in the hospital lobby conference room (to register, call 914-787-2119), an aphasia support group meeting led by a NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence speech therapist from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in the speech office in the Rehab Department on the first floor of Palmer Hall (to register, call Dahna Stadtmauer at 914-787-3373) and a bariatric surgery support group led by the clinical team and a licensed social worker from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the hospital lobby conference room (to register, call 914-787-4000). 

On March 7, a living with cancer support group for adults recently diagnosed with cancer or in treatment led by clinical social workers from Gilda's Club from 5:00 to 6:30 pm in the cancer center conference room on the hospital's first floor (to register, call 914-644-8844, ext. 133, or email Deborah Vincent at  CLOAKING ).

On March 8, a discussion titled Orthorexia: A Deceptive Diet, about obsession with ingredients, food groups, and healthy eating that can lead to symptoms of obsessive behavior in the pursuit of good health. The discussion will be led by a registered dietician, and a free heart-healthy lunch will be provided. The discussion will be held in the hospital lobby conference room (to register, call 914-787-5000).

On March 11, a breastfeeding support group, free and open to all regardless of location of birth, from 11:00 to noon in the hospital lobby conference room (to register, call 914-787-2141), where new mothers can learn from one another and receive professional guidance from a lactation counselor, and a breastfeeding preparation class from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the third-floor conference room of Palmer Hall (preregistration and prepayment ($35) required; call 914-787-5044 to register).

On March 12, a childbirth class taught by certified Lamaze instructors from 7:30 to 10:00 pm in the hospital lobby conference room (tour of the Center for Maternal-Child Health included; $200; to register, call 914-787-5044) and a post-treatment cancer support group led by clinical social workers from Gilda's Club Westchester from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the cancer center conference room on the hospital's first floor.
