Thursday, January 31, 7:00 pm, Opening Reception and Gallery Talk at OSilas Gallery. The exhibition Petal Power: Hope Springs Eternal is a group show of artwork that reminds us that spring is on its way. An opening reception and brief gallery talk by the curators will be held in the gallery at 7:00 pm, and many of the artists and gallerists will be present. Sunday, February 3, 2:00 pm, Book Party for Author Kathy Curto at Sarah Lawrence. The Writing Institute presents Not for Nothing Book Party to celebrate the release of Not for Nothing: Glimpses into a Jersey Girlhood, a new book by Kathy Curto. There will be a short reading and a Q&A with the author followed by refreshments. The event is free and open to the public and will be held at the Heimbold Visual Arts Center’s Donnelley Film Theatre on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College, 917 Kimball Avenue. Tuesday, February 5, 1:30 pm, Visual and Studio Arts Lecture by Jen Liu at Sarah Lawrence. Tuesday and Wednesday, February 5 and 6, Lecture and Reading by Author N.K. Jemisin at Sarah Lawrence. N.K. Jemisin, the first author to win three Hugo Awards in a row for her Broken Earth novels, will be presenting a lecture and a reading on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College. Both events are free. The lecture will be on February 5 at 2:00 pm in the Heimbold Visual Arts Center’s Donnelley Film Theatre, 917 Kimball Avenue, and the reading will be in the Slonim House Living Room at 911 Kimball Avenue. For more information, call 914-395-2412 or go to www.sarahlawrence.edu.

Wednesday, February 6, 7:30 pm, UN Photographer John Isaac at OSilas Gallery. John Isaac, Bronxville resident and former head of the United Nations photo unit, will be speaking in OSilas Gallery at 7:30 pm. Mr. Isaac will discuss his 30-year odyssey as a photojournalist with the United Nations. The talk is open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets may be purchased at www.osilasgallery.org for $25, $20 for OSilas Gallery members.
