Editor's note: Pictured above is the last piece of the original Tappan Zee Bridge to be demolished. This piece was blown up in a controlled explosion at around 10:50 am on Tuesday, January 15. Construction of a replacement bridge, named the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, began in 2013; all traffic was moved to the new bridge in October of 2017, and demolition of the original bridge, in parts over a period of over a year, then began. The moment was captured by MyhometownBronxville photographer Neely Bower.
