By Allison Roesser
Nov. 28, 2018: Ferret lovers, look no further. These four amazing creatures are playful, loving, and super friendly. They get along with children, dogs, and cats and just want to be a part of the family.
This loving bunch arrived at Happy Tails rescue together and each is hoping to be adopted with one of its ferret siblings or go to a home that already has a ferret to play with.
Rico is four years old, Tyrael is two years old, Groot is nine months old, and the female, Sixteen, is just one year old. All are well socialized and just want to play and snuggle.
Ferrets can make wonderful pets. They are affectionate and bond with their owners easily. Although they are quiet for a large part of the day, there are few pets that are as playful and entertaining as ferrets. They are smart and curious creatures who will give you endless smiles and unconditional love.
The lifespan of a ferret living in a home is between 8 and 11 years. They average in size between 13 and 16 inches and can weigh up to three-and-a-half pounds.
Ferrets tend to sleep a large portion of the day and are most active at dawn and dusk; however, they can usually adapt their sleeping and active time to the schedules of their owners.
Ferrets have been domesticated for over 2,000 years. They were introduced to the United States as pets 300 years ago but started gaining popularity in this country the 1980s. These social fur-balls love meeting new people, they can be taught to walk on a leash, and they are clever enough to be litter-box trained.
If you would like more information about these fabulous furry ferrets, please contact Happy Tails rescue at 201-723-8842 or visit HappyTailsRescueNJ.com.
