May 30, 2018: The No. 1 Bronxville girls' lacrosse team went up against No. 2 Putnam Valley last Wednesday in the Section 1 Championship. The matchup was a repeat of the Section 1 Championship from last year when the Tigers fell to the Broncos, 19-4.

Bronxville came out strong with a 5-1 lead in the first half, but the Tigers fought back and at halftime were only down by one with a score of 6-5.

The Broncos' offense continued to stay strong in the second half, taking a 9-5 lead, but the Tigers did not give up. With six minutes left on the clock and the Broncos leading 11-8, Putnam Valley rallied, scoring three unanswered goals, including one in the last seconds of the game to tie the score.

The game headed into sudden victory overtime, and with just 90 seconds left, Bronxville freshman Alex Doukas scored the winning goal, giving the Broncos a 12-11 win. Top scorers for the Broncos were Ava Austi (3G), Ali Berkery (2G,2A), Anneke Pulkkinen (2G,2A), and Doukas (2G). Caitlin Mooney had six saves.

Bronxville will play in the regional semifinals today at 3:00 pm at Fox Lane High School.
