Apr. 18, 2018:  Below are events that will take place in and around Bronxville from Wednesday, April 11, to Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Several events sponsored by the Bronxville Public Library and NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital are included below. For additional events at the library and hospital, click here and here.

Wednesday, April 18, 8:45 am, Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners Special Meeting. The Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners will hold a special meeting at 8:45 am to discuss a project to restore the facade and windows at EFD Union Corners Engine and Hose Company No. 4. The meeting will be held at Station #1, 255 Main Street, Eastchester.

Wednesday, April 18, 5:30 to 7:30 pm, trained volunteers to distribute and explain NY State Health Care Proxy forms, Eastchester and Tuckahoe Libraries. This simple form can be filled out in a few minutes and assigns someone you choose and trust to make health care decisions for you if you cannot speak for yourself. April 16 is National Health Care Decision Day. Westchester End-of-Life Coalition (WELC) with its Live With Care program Everybody Needs A Proxy encourages everyone age 18 and over to have a health care proxy.

Thursday, April 19, 7:00 pm, Lecture by Artist Serdar Arat, OSilas Gallery. In conjunction with the exhibition Departing Skies by Serdar Arat, the artist will be giving a lecture, "Art Across Two Worlds," in OSilas Gallery on Thursday, April 19, at 7:00 pm. Cultural sensibility in increasing globalism; art market as extreme speculation; viewer as creator: Arat offers a comparative exploration of these issues by way of New York and Istanbul, his two homes. A diverse selection of historical and contemporary artwork will illustrate this talk. This lecture will be free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Friday, April 20, 11:00 am, Estate Planning and Elder Law Seminar at Bronxville Library. This seminar, presented by David Cutner from Lamson & Cutner, P.C., will present an overview of basic estate planning documents, types of trusts, asset preservation techniques, long-term care and incapacity planning, and methods to avoid or minimize estate and gift taxes. This program will discuss wills and advance directives as well as asset protection and preservation techniques. Sunday, April 22, 4:00 pm, Reformed Church's 66th Annual Choir Festival. The Reformed Church of Bronxville will hold its 66th Annual Choir Festival in the main sanctuary at 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 22. Monday, April 23, 4:00 pm, Children's Author Book Signing with Ginger Zee, Bronxville Library. There will be a book signing at the Bronxville Public Library by Good Morning America's chief meteorologist, Ginger Zee, at 4:00 pm. She will be signing copies of her children's book Chasing Helicity and will also sign her adult book Natural Disaster: I Cover Them. Tuesday, April 24, 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, Special Election for District 37 New York State Senator. The polls will be open in Bronxville from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm for the special election for District 37 New York State senator, vacated when George Latimer became Westchester County executive.

Tuesday, April 24, 7:00 pm, Meet-and-Greet Reception for NPC Candidates. There will be a meet-and-greet reception from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Bronxville Field Club for the candidates endorsed by the Bronxville Non-Partisan Committee for Bronxville school trustee, Jonathan Atkeson and Thomas Evans. Tuesday, April 24, 6:30 pm, NYP Lawrence Hospital Meet the Doctor Series on Arthritis at Lake Isle. Join Dr. Elan Goldwaser of ColumbiaDoctors, the faculty practice of Columbia University Irving Medical Center, for a free presentation on the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of various arthritic conditions and learn how you can improve your quality of life.
