Feb. 28, 2018:  Below are events that will take place in Bronxville from Wednesday, February 28, to Wednesday, March 14. For events on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College and at NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital, see the separate articles in this issue.

Wednesday, February 28, 7:00 pm, Bronxville School, Author Rachel Simmons to Speak about Empowerment for Girls.  Rachel Simmons, best-selling author and co-founder of the nonprofit organization Girls Leadership, will give a presentation at The Bronxville School about strategies young girls can use to move beyond virtually impossible standards of success to live healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives. A Q&A and book signing of her new book, Enough As She Is, will follow the talk. The event is free, but community members are encouraged to register. Click here for more information and to register.

Thursday, March 1, 7:00 pm, Public Forum on $24.8 Million School Bond Proposal.  The Bronxville Board of Education and district administrators invite all interested residents to attend a community forum and building tour at 7:00 pm at The Bronxville School. At the forum, an administrator will provide community members with an overview of the bond proposal and guide them through the school to identify aging infrastructure and critical building needs that will be addressed through the proposed bond. For more information, go to or call 914-395-0500.

Saturday, March 3, 1:00 pm, Eastchester Historian Michael Fix to Discuss WWI Local Hero Richard O'Neil at Bronxville Public Library. The Anne Hutchinson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be holding a meeting in the Yeager Room of the Bronxville Public Library at 1:00 pm. Eastchester historian Michael Fix will speak about a WW1 local hero, Richard O'Neil. The program is free and open to the public. For more information, go to or call 914-337-7680. 

Thursday, March 8, 7:00 pm, Bronxville Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting.  The board of trustees of the Bronxville Public Library will be holding a regular monthly meeting at 7:00 pm in the library. For more information, go to or call 914-337-7680.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 8, 9, and 10, Bronxville High School Musical, The Addams Family.  The Bronxville High School will perform the musical The Addams Family on Thursday, March 8, at 5:00 pm and Friday and Saturday, March 9 and 10, at 7:00 pm in the school's auditorium. The musical will be performed by high school students and will be directed by high school choral director Pamela Simpson. Tickets go on sale the week of the show, available online through, as well as at the door at the auditorium at The Bronxville School.

Friday, March 9, 7:00 pm, Cocktail Party Fundraiser "Celebrating Irish Authors and Spirits" at Bronxville Public Library.  The Friends of the Bronxville Public Library is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the library's programs and fund several new initiatives that will directly benefit patrons. The party will take place at 7:00 pm at the library. There will be cocktails, hor d'oeuvres, live music, and a raffle of several fun and exciting items and experiences. To purchase tickets, go to

Sunday, March 11, 3:00 pm, Rosemary Loar presents "When Harry Met The Duke" at Bronxville Public Library.  Singer Rosemary Loar will sing the music of Harold Arlen and Duke Ellington at 3:00 pm at the Bronxville Public Library. She will be accompanied by Frank Ponzio on piano. Sunday, March 11, 3:00 pm, 14th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.  The day begins with Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 am featuring vocals by Cathy Maguire of County Louth Ireland (who was invited by Cardinal Dolan to sing at St. Patrick's Cathedral last year), with breakfast to follow. All are welcome. The parade starts at 3:00 pm at the church. Sheila Marcotte will be the grand marshal. 

Monday, March 12, 8:00 pm, Bronxville Village Board of Trustees Meeting.  The Bronxville Village Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 8:00 pm at Bronxville Village Hall. For more information, go to or call 914-337-6500.

Tuesday, March 13, Referendum for Bronxville School's Proposed $24.8 Million Bond.  There will be a referendum for village residents on the school's proposed $24.8 million bond. Voting will take place from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm in the school's blue gym. For more information, go to or call 914-395-0500.

Wednesday, March 14, 9:30 am, Common Challenges for Mothers of Young Children Presented by The Counseling Center at The Reformed Church. Therapists Dr. Adrienne Katzow and Dr. Pia Scaglione of The Counseling Center will present the next program, “Common Challenges for Mothers of Young Children,” in its Conversation Series from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the Edwards Room of The Reformed Church of Bronxville.
