By the Family

Jan. 24, 2018:  On the 18th of January, 2018, Peter John Pilzer died peacefully after a short but dignified struggle with pancreatic cancer.

He was surrounded by his loving family at his home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; three daughters, Sarah, Anna, and Mantie; son-in-law, Jeff Cavicchi; grandchildren, James, Isabel, Atticus, and Sebastian; and dear friends and extended family far and wide.

Born in Sweden on November 1, 1939, Peter grew up in Henley-on-Thames, England, and moved to London at age 19 to became a chartered accountant, working briefly for Price Waterhouse. He joined the international division of Colgate-Palmolive in 1968, which led to a successful and adventurous career living abroad and traveling extensively.

He and Barbara settled with their family in Bronxville in 1981. As an avid tennis and squash player, he joined the Bronxville Field Club. Peter had many hobbies and interests, including woodworking, chess, art, and the opera. Many people were the recipients of his talented woodworking gifts.

In 2013, Peter and Barbara left Bronxville and made a new life in Savannah, Georgia. There he became very involved in numerous clubs and activities, starting a club for both chess and woodworking. Peter was a larger-than-life character, full of wit and humor, charm and compassion and always making new friends wherever he went. Peter had a way of making all people feel welcome and at ease in his home, but above all, he treasured his family and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Savannah on March 31, 2018.
