Congressman Eliot Engel Issues Statement on Michael Flynn Guilty Plea PDF Print Email

By Office of Representative Eliot L. Engel

Dec. 6, 2017:  Representative Eliot L. Engel, ranking member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, made the following statement on December 1:

"Today, Special Counsel Robert Mueller announced that General Michael Flynn, Donald Trump’s short-lived national security advisor, pleaded guilty to the felony of lying to the FBI about a conversation he had with the Russian ambassador last December. I know that every American understands the gravity of today’s guilty plea, as this sad parade of indictments slowly makes its way through Trump’s inner circle.

“Yet, far too many questions still remain unanswered about the Trump Russia scandal, such as who was involved with instructing Flynn to speak with the Russians directly, about what, and why. Frankly, it seems that more evidence is uncovered every day about collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, and I’m glad that Special Counsel Mueller is investigating these very serious allegations.”

"Really Renee?" What a way to hide anonymously. You spelled her name wrong you fool. At least she has the guts to attach HER name to it. Unlike you, "Really Renee?" Let me guess you have at least two pink pussy hats and a car with a RESIST bumper sticker. And what exactly have you done for the community "Really Renee?". At least RENE has guts and a backbone to represent Bronxville. Unlike you a keyboard commando. You should she be so proud. Go back into your hole along with Rep. Engel and keep trying connect the dots with Russian Collusion.......going to take a while. If you would like to take this offline and talk about it drop me an email and next time I'm in B-Ville we can talk about it face to face and your not hiding behind your computer. LTCol Marshall USMC Parris Island, SC 29902
I don't post anonymously- and you spelled my name incorrectly. That said, the BXV school, like any institution, has its good points and bad points. It's a primary driver of our property values and accounts for the bulk of our tax load. Not sure why you, whoever you may be, are so defensive about advocating for best practices. We are all stakeholders, including renters. And as a 20 year resident, I, along with hundreds of other good- willed people, support our community, as opposed to undermining it. As for Mr. Astorino, I respect him a great deal and he won Bronxville, as many other people regardless of party affiliation in the Village, respect him as well, and voted thusly. It's unfortunate in my view he came up short in the County. Obviously you feel otherwise.

Losing with grace being such a good idea, why don't you learn how to do it? You seem very bitter that your buddy Rob Astorino lost and you are being vindictive.
But then, you seem to be a vindictive, graceless person, as shown by your dealings around town and with the school.
Now that Rob A. isn't running for governor and you have no access to power, isn't it time that you moved to someplace more welcoming. I hear that Alabama might be a good spot for people like you.

Marcia, thanks for passing this along. I can now rest easier that your esteemed Representative Engel gave us his 2c. Your publication continues to push a liberal agenda. I can't wait till you have 'RESIST' on your banner. To quote PUGPROUD "What does Mr Engel's statement have to do with my home town Bronxville?" I'll be over here waiting. LtCol Marshall USMC
While I believe it’s normally prudent and helpful for a media outlet (like mhBXV) to run elected officials’ press releases, this missive is just silly. Engle is just pandering to people still mad about a national election that happened over a year ago. That same anger has been unleashed on our local community, where it does not belong. That anger nominated, I believe, a wholly unqualified and Leftist Venezuelan candidate for our Village Board last March; in Nov. it foisted upon us an incoming County Executive who, despite dodging his own tax obligations, has promised to grow a County government we don’t want or need, and raise our taxes, instead of supporting a CE who responsibly trimmed County Government, and kept the tax levy flat. While I fully appreciate we reside in a hyper competitive community, losing with grace is is virtue; vindictiveness and blind retribution is not.
Clearly Engel is not on the Intelligence Committee. Peter Strzok, Andrew Weisman, Andrew McCabe all tainted/biased; and was James Comey spending too much time as a young’un near the toxic waterfront in Yonkers? Just sayin’.
I agree with PUGPROUD; Rep. Engel could find much better use of his time than commenting on this farce of an FBI investigation into "Russian Collusion". Better to focus on making America great again!
What does Mr Engel's statement have to do with my home town Bronxville? Nothing that I can see and wonder what motivated reporting here? Please explain, I'm all ears.

Bronxville Overview

Bronxville Overview

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.

While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.

Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.

The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
