Sharon Daly Carr, Former Bronxville Resident, Dies November 21, 2017; Mass of Christian Burial to Be Held November 28 PDF Print Email

By the Family

Nov. 27, 2017:  Sharon Daly Carr, age 71, a longtime resident of New Canaan, Connecticut, and Chatham, Massachusetts, and a former resident of Bronxville, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, at Norwalk Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Sharon was born on September 10, 1946, to Alfred F. Daly and Mary Henri on Staten Island.

She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of over 50 years, Richard, her daughters, Adrienne Sparks (John) of Harvard, Massachusetts, Jennifer Casper (Scott) of New Canaan, and Christina Carr also of New Canaan, as well as two grandsons, Aidan and William, whom she adored.

She was predeceased by her parents and by her brother, Wayne Daly.

Before moving to New Canaan, she spent many wonderful years raising her girls in Bedford and Bronxville. She loved her family and together they created countless memories. In every home she made, she surrounded her family with music ranging from Artie Shaw and Frank Sinatra to Fleetwood Mac and her favorite flowers, tulips and peonies. Sharon was a sentimental person and had a true appreciation for all things classic, including antiques, old movies, and historic places. She was an avid reader and her love of learning never ceased. She was always with a book or newspaper and never missed an opportunity to take her grandsons to Elm Street Books.

Whether traveling to Charleston, the Loire Valley, or Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo or spending time at home in New Canaan or Chatham, she loved to be with her family.

She was beautiful inside and out and made an impression on everyone she met. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Sharon will always be remembered for her classic sense of style, her intelligence, her wit, and her unwavering devotion to her loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Canaan Historical Society or National Disaster Search Dog Foundation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 28, at 11:00 am at St. Aloysius in New Canaan. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan.
